The college recruiting process started for me in my Junior year of high school when my club soccer coach started to ask me about my aspirations to play at the college level and encouraged me to give it a try as he saw that I had potential. So, I talked with my dad and had him start filming my high school soccer games to gather up a highlight tape to then send to coaches to hopefully spark interest in a few coaches. Also, my club team was going college showcases, where college coaches go to find players, so I would send them e-mails ahead of time to tell them when and where I was playing so that they could watch. The biggest difficulty in the recruiting process is simply being able to be seen by the right coach at the right time. As the Spring club season progressed, after sending countless emails to coaches and talking on the phone with a few coaches, I had narrowed down a few options by the summer time. For me, I wanted to play Division III because it allowed me to have a more well rounded college experience while also enjoying collegiate soccer. After more ID camps over the summer where a few more schools showered interest, and others did not, I decided on Emory and I was about ready to go coming into my senior year of high school. The Emory Men's Soccer Coach, Sonny Travis, had been talking with me and I was able to have my academic profile prescreened by admissions so they could say I would get in to Emory if I applied Early Decision 1. So, I applied and got in that fall and am not attending Emory University.
